Is MyNetworkTools really free?
Yes! MyNetworkTools is currently free for a limited time with full access to all 108+ tools. We're in our growth phase and want as many people as possible to experience our platform. In the future, we may introduce Pro and Team plans with additional features, but all current users will be grandfathered in with special benefits.
How do I install the app?
MyNetworkTools is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it in several ways:
  • Desktop: Click the "Install App" button in the navigation bar, or use your browser's install option
  • Mobile: Tap "Add to Home Screen" in your browser's menu
  • Chrome Extension: Download our Chrome Extension for quick toolbar access
What browsers are supported?
MyNetworkTools works on all modern browsers:
  • Chrome: Fully supported + Chrome Extension available
  • Firefox: Fully supported
  • Safari: Fully supported (macOS and iOS)
  • Edge: Fully supported + Chrome Extension compatible

Is there a mobile app?
Yes! MyNetworkTools is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your phone just like a native app:
  • iPhone/iPad: Open Safari → Tap Share → "Add to Home Screen"
  • Android: Open Chrome → Tap menu → "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App"
The PWA works offline for many tools, syncs your data, and receives automatic updates - no app store required!
Do I need to download anything?
No downloads required! All 108+ tools work directly in your browser. However, you have optional ways to enhance your experience:
  • PWA Install: Add to your home screen for app-like experience
  • Chrome Extension: Quick toolbar access to 31 popular tools
Both options are free and optional - the website works perfectly on its own.

🔒 Account & Security

Is my data secure?
Absolutely. We take security seriously:
  • SSL Encryption: All data transmitted is encrypted
  • No Data Storage: We don't store your query data or tool inputs
  • Privacy First: We never share your information with third parties
  • Secure Authentication: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms
What happens to inactive accounts?
To keep our platform fast and secure, accounts inactive for 30 days are automatically deleted. Simply log in at least once a month to keep your account active. You can also earn bonus days by referring friends!
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
When you create an account, you receive a Security Key. This key is used to reset your password instead of email verification. Visit the Forgot Password page and enter your security key to set a new password. Important: Keep your security key safe - it's shown only once during signup!
Can I use my account on multiple devices?
For security purposes, you can only be logged in on one device at a time. If you log in on a new device, your previous session will be automatically ended. This helps protect your account from unauthorized access.
How do I change my password?
To change your password:
  • Go to your Account page
  • Click "Change Password" in the Security section
  • Enter your current password and new password
  • Click "Update Password"
If you forgot your password, use your Security Key on the Forgot Password page.
How do I change my username or email?
You can update your profile information from your Account page:
  • Username: Can be changed once every 30 days
  • Email: Can be updated anytime - used for account notifications
  • Display Name: Shown in the community blog and comments
Changes take effect immediately.
How do I delete my account?
To permanently delete your account:
  • Go to your Account page
  • Scroll to the "Danger Zone" section
  • Click "Delete Account"
  • Confirm by typing your username
Warning: This action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data including notes, monitors, history, and settings will be deleted.
What data do you collect?
We collect minimal data to provide our services:
  • Account Info: Username, email, hashed password
  • User Content: Notes, favorites, monitor settings (stored securely)
  • Usage Stats: Tool usage counts for your history (not the actual queries)
  • Session Data: Login times for security purposes
We do NOT store: Your tool inputs, DNS queries, scanned ports, or any sensitive data you enter into tools. Privacy is our priority.
I lost my Security Key. What do I do?
Unfortunately, if you lose your Security Key and forget your password, there is no way to recover your account. This is by design for maximum security - we don't use email-based recovery which can be compromised.

Tips for the future:
  • Screenshot your Security Key during signup
  • Store it in a password manager
  • Write it down and keep it somewhere safe
If locked out, you'll need to create a new account.

Our Chrome Extension gives you quick access to 31 popular tools directly from your browser toolbar. Features include:

  • DNS lookup, IP geolocation, WHOIS
  • Auto-update notifications

How do I save favorite tools?
Once logged in, you can save up to 6 favorite tools for quick access:
  • Click the star icon on any tool page
  • Or use the "Select Favorites" dropdown in the header
  • Your favorites appear in the quick-access bar at the top of every page
Are the tools accurate?
Yes! Our tools query real-time data from authoritative sources:
  • DNS Tools: Query actual DNS servers (Google, Cloudflare, authoritative)
  • WHOIS: Pull data directly from registrar databases
  • SSL Checker: Analyze live certificate data from servers
  • Port Scanner: Perform real connection attempts to target ports
  • IP Geolocation: Use multiple databases for accuracy
Results are always fresh and not cached (unless specified).
Do tools work offline?
Some tools work offline when using the PWA:
  • Works Offline: Password generator, hash tools, Base64 encoder, JSON formatter, UUID generator, text tools, calculators
  • Requires Internet: DNS lookup, port scanner, WHOIS, SSL checker, ping, traceroute, IP geolocation
Network tools require internet because they query external servers. Local/utility tools work anywhere!
Can I export my results?
Yes! Most tools offer export options:
  • Copy to Clipboard: One-click copy on all tools
  • Download JSON: Available on DNS, WHOIS, and other data tools
  • Download TXT: Plain text export for logs and reports
  • Print: Formatted output for documentation

Is there an API?
API access is coming soon! We're developing a RESTful API that will allow you to:

Why do some tools require login?
Most tools work without an account, but some features require login:
  • Tool History: Track your recent queries

📝 Notes & Sync

How does notes sync work?
Your notes automatically sync across all platforms:
  • Dashboard: Click on any note in the Notes card to edit
  • Notes Page: Full notes management at /notes.php
  • Chrome Extension: Access notes from the "My Notes" tool
Changes save automatically and sync in real-time.
Is there a limit on notes?
Free accounts can create up to 50 notes. Each note can contain a generous amount of text. Notes are stored securely and only you can access them.
Can I export my notes?
Yes! You can export your notes from the Notes page:
  • Individual Export: Copy any note to clipboard
  • Bulk Export: Download all notes as a JSON or TXT file
  • Print: Print formatted notes for offline reference
Your data is always yours to take with you.
Are my notes backed up?
Yes, notes are automatically backed up:
  • Cloud Storage: Notes are stored securely on our servers
  • Real-time Sync: Every change is saved immediately
  • Redundancy: Multiple backup copies for data protection
We recommend also exporting important notes locally for extra safety.

📈 Monitoring

How does uptime monitoring work?
Uptime monitoring checks if your websites are online:
  • HTTP/HTTPS Checks: We request your URL and verify it responds
  • Response Time: Track how fast your site responds
  • Status Codes: Alert if non-200 responses occur
  • Configurable: Set check intervals (5min, 15min, 30min, 1hr)
Get notified immediately when your site goes down.
How does SSL monitoring work?
SSL monitoring prevents certificate expiration surprises:
  • Expiry Tracking: Monitor when your SSL certificates expire
  • Early Warnings: Get alerts 30, 14, and 7 days before expiry
  • Certificate Details: View issuer, validity period, and chain info
  • Multi-domain: Monitor unlimited SSL certificates

How does domain monitoring work?
Domain monitoring tracks your domain registration:
  • Expiry Alerts: Know when domains are about to expire
  • WHOIS Changes: Get notified of registrar or nameserver changes
  • Early Warnings: Alerts at 60, 30, 14, and 7 days before expiry
  • Bulk Monitoring: Track all your domains in one place

How often do monitors check?
Check frequency depends on the monitor type:
  • Uptime: Every 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes (configurable)
  • SSL Expiry: Daily checks
  • Domain Expiry: Daily checks
Pro users get access to more frequent check intervals.
How do I receive alerts?
Alerts are delivered through multiple channels:
  • Dashboard: Alert banner and notification badge
  • Email: Instant email for critical alerts
  • Browser: Push notifications (if enabled)
Configure your notification preferences in Account Settings.
How many monitors can I create?
Monitor limits depend on your plan:
  • Free: 5 monitors total (any type)
  • Pro: 25 monitors with faster check intervals
  • Teams: 100 monitors per team with shared visibility
Mix and match uptime, SSL, and domain monitors as needed.

👥 Teams

How do team workspaces work?
Team workspaces provide a shared environment for your organization:
  • Custom Subdomain: Your team gets a branded subdomain (yourteam.mynetworktools.com)
  • Shared Access: All team members can access the workspace with their own login
  • Centralized Billing: One bill for the entire team
  • Team Branding: Customize your workspace with your organization's name and logo
Each member has their own account while being part of the team workspace.
How do I create or join a team?
To create a team:
  • Go to your Account page
  • Click "Create Team" and enter your team name
  • You become the Team Admin with full control
  • Invite members via email or shareable invite link
To join a team:
  • Click an invite link sent by a Team Admin
  • Or enter an invite code on your Account page
  • Accept the invitation to join the workspace
What do team members get access to?
All team members get access to:
  • All 108+ Tools: Full access to every tool on the platform
  • Team Workspace: Access via your team's custom subdomain
  • Pro Features: Extended history, unlimited notes, and more
  • Priority Support: Faster response times for team accounts
Each member maintains their own personal account data (notes, favorites, history).
How does the team workspace look?
Your team workspace is a branded version of MyNetworkTools:
  • Custom URL: yourteam.mynetworktools.com
  • Team Branding: Your organization name displayed throughout
  • Full Tool Access: All 108+ tools available
  • Individual Dashboards: Each member has their own dashboard and data
Team members log in with their own credentials to access the workspace.
What are the team member roles?
Teams have two role levels:
  • Owner: Full control including billing, team settings, and managing members
  • Member: Can access the team workspace and shared resources
The team Owner can manage all aspects of the team from the Team Settings page.
How does team billing work?
Team billing is simple and centralized:
  • Per-seat pricing: $19.99/month for each team member
  • Single invoice: Team Owner receives one bill for all seats
  • Flexible seats: Add or remove members anytime - billing adjusts automatically
The Team Owner manages all billing from the Team Settings page.
